Note that the design elements and &#8220;chart junk&#8221; serve<br \/>\nto better connect and communicate the data to the viewer. The<br \/>\nchoice not to go with pie charts for the first set of plots is a<br \/>\ngood one. The drawbacks of polar representations of proportions is<br \/>\nvery well know to statisticians, but designers often feel that<br \/>\ncircular elements are more pleasing in their infographics.
